About the University/College
Columbia College (CC), formerly a private college, was founded in 1936 and offered high school completion programs to hundreds of students, including war veterans. As CC expanded, ESL and university transfer programs were added to accommodate the growing numbers of international students coming to the west coast of Canada; CC’s current student body is drawn from over 40 countries around the world. CC now offers eight certificate and diploma programs and over 125 courses in its University Transfer, Intensive ESL and Senior Secondary Programs.
The University Transfer Program is on a three semester basis. Students usually complete 12 or 15 credits per semester. Students who have successfully completed a secondary school program, or equivalent, may enter the program. First- and second-year university levels can be taken at CC and are fully transferable to universities.
Vancouver is the largest city in western Canada and enjoys a temperate climate year-round that rarely drops below zero degrees Celsius. Vancouver is a safe and clean cosmopolitan city of nearly two million people featuring shopping, fine dining, cultural facilities and an extensive public transportation system. Columbia College recently moved to a new building situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver. CC offers an extensive homestay program for international students or the option of living in private accommodations in Vancouver.
