The
Report of the Federal Government's Committee for Quality Assurance on
Teaching placed Sydney in the first rank of Australian universities, and
described the University's teaching outcomes as outstanding. The reputation
of the University depends on the quality of its teachers. The University

experience. Academic activities are supported by some of the most sophisticated

Undergraduate Scholarships
Australian
Development Scholarship
Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) are funded by the Australian
Agency for International Development (AusAID) as part of Australia's foreign
aid program. The ADS provide opportunities for people from selected developing
countries to study in Australia. These scholarships are awarded either
on merit or on nomination by home governments. Information and application
forms for the ADS must be obtained directly from the Australian Diplomatic
Mission or the Australian Education Centre in your home country. Application

Faculty/International
Student Merit Scholarships
are awarded by the University of Sydney to its undergraduate/postgraduate
coursework merit achievers who have completed at least one year of their
studies at the University of Sydney. Selection is based strictly on academic
merit and will be made by Faculties participating in the program. Selection
is made in Semester 1 of each year and all International students who
do not already hold other scholarships are automatically considered. No
application form is required.

Australian
Development Scholarship (ADS).

International
Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)
IPRS' are funded by the Australian Department of Education, Training and
Youth Affairs (DETYA). This scholarship provides tuition fees only and
is available to individuals wishing to undertake research studies. Applications
are assessed on academic merit and research potential. In addition to
the IPRS, the University of Sydney awards International Postgraduate Award
(IPA) to IPRS holders each year. Applications for the IPRS are available
during May - August each year. Application forms may be downloaded during
May - August each year. The closing date for the IPRS is 31 August each
year. All IPRS applications will also be considered for the IPA (no separate
application is required).
The
Asian Development Bank-Government of Japan (ADB -JSP)
The ADB offers opportunities to talented individuals from its developing
member countries to pursue postgraduate studies with the support of the
above scholarship program funded by the Government of Japan. To be eligible
to apply for the ADB-JSP, candidates must gain admission to one of the
following programs at the University of Sydney: Master of Business Administration,
Master/Graduate Diploma in Transport Management, Master/Graduate Diploma
in Economics, Master/Graduate Diploma in Commerce and or Master/Graduate
Diploma in Public Health.

forms are available from the International Office or may be downloaded.
Closing date is 31 January each year. The number of new ADB scholarships
is limited to approximately five scholarships each year. Further information,
including a list of other institutions participating in this scholarship
